Each song on the album is about a specific city, moving through Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, Hong Kong, and New York, as Hecker searches for unattainable nymphs, for instants when time seems to stand still, for glamour, sex, and love. But it´s his visits to the remote villages of Kastrup and Hennigsdorf that seem to bring him salvation and deliverance at the end of his spiritual journey. Deliverance from the ghosts of his past, deliverance from his hated mirror image that he sees in the eyes of his fellow beings, deliverance from all social restraints. Maximilian Hecker is a German musician from Berlin, known for ethereal pop or dream pop music, similar to Radiohead, Sigur Rós, Tom Baxter, and Nick Drake. He himself describes his songs as "melancholy pop hymns."
